Welcome to Saxon Cross Photography

Based in Methuen, Massachusetts, and primarily covering the Merrimack Valley and North Shore of Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire, we offer both portrait and lifestyle photography services. I am an un-studio photographer who loves to travel and shoot in all sorts of awesome locations from backyards to the White Mountains.

Photographer – Ian Cowpar

Why I shoot

I wake up every day and think about what I might see and experience that day. I believe there are always opportunities to see people and places in a different way, even if I’ve looked at them a thousand times. The way I capture and preserve these things is with my photography.

I would describe my style of photography as photojournalistic, attempting to tell a story and capture life as it’s happening; unscripted and raw. My purpose in storytelling is not so much for the subject, but for all those who view my work after the story has been told. I shoot because I want to share with others their world the way I see it, and because I understand the importance of creating visual, tangible memories.

To get started with working with us, send us a note or call us. We’d love to talk with you about your session and your vision for it!

“Ian was professional, talented, flexible and fairly priced in delivering great photos for my daughters Senior pictures at our site of choice, Maudsley Park, Newburyport, MA. Although he offered to shoot at multiple locations, we had more than enough options at Maudsley. We have lived about 2 miles from Maudsley Park for 18 years and visited often. However, Ian found many beautiful spots ideal for unique photos we had not even known existed. Ian spent much more time than we had expected in finding one spot after another and creating unique and beautiful photos.”

“My daughter was very comfortable during the photo session. We received the images back very quickly. We were amazed with the quality of the images and the variety of poses and backdrops. We absolutely loved the photos and couldn’t be happier. My daughter’s essence was definitely captured and we will cherish the photos for years to come. We highly recommend Saxon Cross Photography.”

“As someone who has a passion for the many forms of Art, I can appreciate firsthand, the intense attention to detail and meticulous execution that goes into the work of Saxon Cross Photography. The difference between running a business for profit and making a living doing what gives you absolute Joy is unmistakably evident in the work of Ian Cowpar. Having your child or family photographed is such a personal and intimate endeavor. The possible outcomes can only fall into two categories: 1. Mere reflections of an existence, with or without beauty. External Carbon copy on a medium. Or 2. Unmistakable, explosive recreation of not only a moment in time but the virtual, magic-like transmission of spirit through the lense of the Artist. I have seen the works of, and have collaborated with several photographers in the past, but until working with Ian and allowing him to capture my girls on film, I have not witnessed the possibility of complete portrayal of subject, emotion and beauty. I encourage you to allow them to capture this priceless gift for you to both cherish and share.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Saxon Cross Photography. I have two small boys and we met at a park to take pictures. It worked out perfectly. The boys played while two photographers followed them around and took photos. There were so many great shots that it was hard to choose. They were very representative of who we are and I love the pictures!”
